India all relevant Import and Export Statistics that you must Know

Over past few years India is burgeoning itself to become the developing country. India’s overall exports between, April 2021 to December 2021 were estimated at US$ 301.3 billion. The overall imports between April 2021 and December 2021 were estimated at US$ 443.82 billion.

As per India Import Data, top imports of the country are Crude Petroleum, Gold, Coal Briquettes, Diamonds and Petroleum gas. The main import partners are China, United States, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Iraq.

As per India Custom data, the country is highly dependent on imports for meeting its energy needs. Nearly 85% of the crude oil needs are to be imported. The country is buying more volumes of crude oil from Russia is still less than 1% of the total oil imports.

In the year 2020-2021 the country imported 633,000 tons of 0.3% while in 2019-2020 the purchase were 2.93 million tonnes or 1.3% of total imports. As per India Shipment data, the gross import of rough diamond has jumped 255% to $9 billion from April to September 2021 after the economy is gearing to bounce from Covid-19.

India is the world’s largest importer of diamonds. The imports of the country are particularly high because it is world leader in diamond processing.

As per India Export Data, the total value of exports is US$ 323,251 million. The total value of imports is US$ 478,884 million. The top exports of the country are refined petroleum, packaged medicaments, diamonds, rice, and jewellery. The main exporters of the country are China, United States, Hong Kong, United Arab Emirates, and Germany.

India’s non basmati rice exports valued at USD 4796 million in 2020-2021, with basmati rice exports a close second at USD 4018 million. The rice exports rose by over 33% to 11.79 MT in the first seven months of current FY, likely to surpass last FY’s record over 17 MT.

The top ten countries- Nepal, Benin, Bangladesh, Togo, Senegal, Cote D Ivoire, Guinea, Malaysia, Iraq, United Arab Emirates- have a share of 57% in India’s total exports of non-basmati rice in 2020-21 in terms of volume.

Gems and jewellery contributed to over 26 billion dollars of all exports from South Asian country. As on 2019, the country exported $823M in Gold, making it the 50th largest exporter of Gold in the world.
